E: 100 movies worthwhile watching

It took more time than I thought, and the list is far longer than I expected, but I have now come up with a selection of 100 of the best movies I have seen. The number includes a few trilogies sand other movie sets. Sequels not listed here are intentionally left out. There are probably quite a few movies I forgot to mention, and many I want to see which I haven’t. Furthermore there will be movies I have never seen, which would probably make the list. This will particularly be the case for older movies, which I tend to have prejudices against and therefore watching only precious few. Moreover, I only watch movies once (with very few exceptions), which makes my subjective opinion a bit fragile.

However, having seen many a movie in my lifetime, I believe you will not waste your time (or money) with these titles. Too many times I wish I could have followed a list like the one I am making now to avoid all the mediocre shows. Originality in concepts, story, camera usage and other innovating elements are much appreciated for a good movie enjoyment mark.

I have listed the movies alphabetically as combined categories (in brackets) made it challenging to list by genre. The genre given is in generally in accordance with that of International Movie Data Base (IMDB.com), but I have changed or modified some of the movies to my own perception. By clicking the movie title, you are taken to IMBD’s description of the respective motion picture.

I will modify this list in the future, this is only a temporary draft, and in no too long come up with my top 10 or top 15 – probably with recommendations for why you should watch them or what I thought of it. Another idea is to list favorite actors, and movies with cool features/effects/details – independent of how I find the movie as a whole.

In a few days I will also add selection of my favorite Norwegian movies – none of which are currently included in this list. It will be a little segment for itself. The Norwegian movie industry is tiny, but has really picked up the last few years.

Feel free to come with feedback to the list, what you think, if there are titles missing or if you things some should be removed. I feel a bit embarrassed of how few non-American movies that are on the list. True, the US movie industry is the biggest and easiest available, but not always best. I would really like to view more alternative stuff with other perspectives and other languages. A list of inspiration can be the IMBD top 250 through time which I barely looked at. I have seen, but not added The Godfather, Casablanca, Goodfellas, Star Wars etc, but we are all different.
